Photoshop Editing Process - Dodge and Burn

Photoshop -

Before:

After:

Evaluation:
I personally am not satisfied with the final outcome of this image however this may be due to the fact that I used the technique to the extreme. I may use this technique in the future if a certain part of an image is either under or over exposed.

Process: Dodge and Burn

Dodge: Makes and image lighter.
Burn: Makers an image darker.

Firstly, begin by using the 'Quick Selection Tool' and select the area you wish to affect.

Secondly, select the 'Dodge Tool' and select either the 'Dodge' which lightens and image or the 'Burn' which darkness it.

Then, go over the specific section you wish to alter with the appropriate tool. It should end up like this if you wish to change the image to an extreme.

Next, select the 'Refine Edge'.

After, select the 'Refine Edge' tool and move the bar until you are satisfied with the refining.

Select enter once satisfied.

This is the final image.

  1. good progression and demonstration of photoshop... There are alternative ways of selective toning which might give a more authentic result. Please ask when we next meet...
